Depart Mount Cook and follow the shores of Lake Pukaki to the small town of Twizel. The route turns south through the MacKenzie basin and the junction town of Omarama. Then its over the Lindis Pass to the old gold workings near Tarras, the township of Cromwell. and the "Alpine Resort" of Queenstown.

There are two driving routes available for travelling between Queenstown and Wanaka. The shortest route to Wanaka is over the Crown Range Road (approximately 1 hour). This route must always be checked for access during the winter months.
Via the more conservative and longer route, enjoy a pleasant scenic drive following the Shotover and Clutha Rivers.

Travel past Lake Hawea via Makaroa. to the Haast Pass. Although lower then the other alpine passes, Haast is the mightiest, surrounded by high peaks and forests, with many waterfalls visible from the highway. Continue north to the West Coast Glacier Region.

This morning depart Wellington and travel north by sea vistas and satellite towns, past cropping and sheep farming country to the Tongaririo National Park. With Ruapehu, Ngaurahoe and Tongariro as the backdrop, travel across the volcanic plateau country, past Lake Rotoaria to the summit of the Te Poninga saddle. On reaching Turangi, follow the shores of Lake Taupo to Wairakei, where geothermal steam is harnessed to produce electricity.
Taupo is one of the main centres on the volcanic plateau located on the edge of New Zealand’s largest lake, famous for trout fishing. With natural hot springs, and a picturesque outlook to the snow-capped mountains of Tongariro National Park to the south, it is no surprise that Taupo is a favourite playground for outdoor enthusiasts and those that just want to relax and unwind.

Travel north of Rotorua and head towards Te Puke, the 'Kiwifruit Capital of the World'! Located in the heart of New Zealand's kiwifruit industry, Te Puke is only 10 minutes from three of the regions top surf beaches. Continuing past Tauranga; the largest city in the Bay of Plenty region, the drive into Coromandel Peninsula offers some of the best New Zealand coastal touring thanks to the breath-taking procession of beautiful beaches fringed with stunning Pohutukawa trees.
The Coromandel Peninsula has many attractions that beckon visitors with its historical reminders of days gone by, magnificent volcanically formed mountains, luxuriant native bush; Pohutukawa fringed shores and endless sandy beaches. Well defined forest tracks lead deeper into the extensive areas of bush which abound in mountain ranges, leading onto panoramic views and relics of early timber-felling and gold mining days.

Visit or view from the mainland, the most famous beaches in the Coromandel area including - Hot Water Beach, Cathedral Cove, Hahei, Cook's Beach. The timetable will be dependant on local tides, with plenty of time to enjoy a swim if weather permits.

Travel by ferry from Auckland to Waiheke Island.
